Woolly mammoth skull bone piece.
This is a piece of a woolly mammoth skull. This is from the back of the skull where the skull is connected to the vertebrae and you can clearly see the occipital condyle where the vertebra would articulate on this piece. Just this one bit gives you an idea of how massive the whole skull would have been. You can also see clearly in the photographs how many spaces there are inside the bone to reduce the weight of the skull.
This is a really nice looking piece that was found in the North Sea (still has sand dribbling out occasionally). It has a lovely colour of a rich deep olive / brown which has not come out very well in the photos.
This would make a really interesting and impressive addition to any mammoth collection.
The dimensions are 24cm x 15cm x 10cm and weight 1200g
