Vintage real human skull medical specimen
This is a nice example of a real human skull that has been medically prepared for study etc. This one was part of a collection that came from a medical college, so it still has the collection number written inside.
Overall, the skull is in good condition with all the bones intact. The bones have a nice deep colour and patina consistent with a skull of this age. Instead of the more common arrangement of hooks and pins to hold the cranium in place, the springs that articulate the jaw hook onto pins on the cranium so that this springs hold both the cranium and the mandible.
Overall, the dentition is fair. There are 13 teeth missing in the upper jaw and 8 missing in the lower although many of these were lost pre-mortem as the bone has healed over. The teeth are very worn indicating a high grit diet.
