Antique real medical skull with sagittal section.
This is an antique medical specimen of a medical skull. It is unusual in that it has a sagittal section cutting the skull in half from front to back showing the sinus cavities.
The cranium is also detachable as is the lower jaw. The two halves of the skull and the cranium are located together with metal pins.
The cranium would once have been held in place with two hooks and pins and the jaw would have been articulated with springs. The holes are still present where these would have been attached but the have been removed some time in the past.
The skull has a nice colour and still has 17 of the original teeth, although some had been lost pre-mortem.
