Real Human skull antique medical specimen 2
This is another really nice example of an old medical specimen of a human skull. As you can see from the photographs, it is intact with the cranium detachable and held in place with metal pegs and brass hooks. The lower jaw is articulated with springs to hold it in place but allow jaw movement.
This skull has some of the original teeth although as you can see from the photographs, the front teeth in the lower jaw were lost a long time pre-mortem and the jaw bone has healed over.
There are a few faint pencil annotations on some of the skull bones, presumably from when it has been used either in a medical school or as a demonstration by a doctor.
There is one very small piece missing from the back of the cranium where the metal peg locates. This must have been chipped off from rough handling over the years.
Altogether a really nice specimen and in great condition.
