Real Human Skull antique medical specimen 3
This is another nice example of an old medical specimen of a human skull. As you can see from the photographs, it is intact with the cranium detachable and held in place with metal pegs and brass hooks. The lower jaw was originally articulated with springs to hold it in place but these have disappeared over the years.
This skull has lost quite a few of the original teeth especially at the front. Some of the back teeth were lost a long time pre-mortem and the jaw bone has healed over.
There is a small piece missing from the front of the cranium where the metal peg locates. This must have been chipped off from rough handling over the years. There is also a small piece of bone missing from the left edge of the cranium.
