Mallard duck skull (Anas platyrhynchos)

This is the skull from a mallard duck Anas platyrhynchos. Although the mallard is a very common duck with a wide distribution across temperate Europe, America and Asia, this specimen is from a captive bred duck.

This skull has been beautifully cleaned and mounted. Unfortunately, the pterygoid bones are missing.

A lovely example measuring 11cm in length.
