Victorian medical museum real human bones. Cranium showing advanced hyperostosis frontalis interna.

$641.00

This is a very unusual item. These bones came from a collection from a medical museum that was in a medical school.

As you can see from the photos, they have a very deep colour and rich patina. They also have the original item collection numbers.  There is the cranium, occipital and the manubrium of the sternum with the first rib still attached.

The cranium shows advanced hyperostosis frontalis interna with the internal surface of the frontal bones exhibiting massive overgrowth of the bone, the swelling of which must have been impacting on the brain or cranial nerves. There is no obvious signs on the outside of the cranium except perhaps on the sagittal suture which has mostly disappeared.
