Vintage Auzoux Paris real human bone articulated hand medical model
£275.00
This is a fascinating and unusual item. A vintage medical model prepared by the Auzoux company in Paris. The company of Auzoux was established in 1827 by Louis Auzoux as a manufacturer and supplier of high-quality anatomical models.
This example was part of a collection that came from a medical college and still has the collection number written on it. It is still in good condition as can be seen from the photos. The model is a complete hand showing the articulation of the bones. The ligaments have been re-created to show the articulation.
The whole structure has been mounted on a black wooden base. The Auzoux stamp is still visible on the radius. The bone has a slight gloss finish and appears to have had a coat of varnish or similar although this may have been original to prevent the bone from crumbling and could be easily removed with acetone.
The ulna and radius have broken at some stage and been repaired as you can see in the photo. It looks like someone has been heavy handed with it!
